| Ok so I got a call last night off of Sonias aunt, her son who we were trying to advise on how to get his dragon back into health is getting more and more worried, and they asked if we could nurse it for them, I agreed and so the lil guy arrived this morning. I weighed him he weighs 14 grams and is 5 months old!!!! The guy it belongs to Sonias cousin basically in his words not mine "didnt have time" to syringe feed etc I work full time aswell and yet I am willing to do it So I am rather angry at him, happy with his parent though for taking control and bringing the lil one to me anyway im gunna share a pic to show the extent of the damage So yeah send your prayers to this lil guy oh and hes called OP ( optimus prime ) Oh just to add I managed to get about 20ml of my emergency mixture for reptiles by using a syringe just in case your curious it contains baby strawberry food, some baby chicken food, lots of live food, greens, calcium powder, Vitamin powder, and a bit of water all blended very well so that it goes into the syringe He has kept it down for the last 4 hours so hopefully no regurge which is good. Hes also had some worming solution and a vitamin injection.

| Be very carefull on worming a lizard this far gone. It can do more harm than good. Remember that the wormer not only kills bad parasites but good as well. Every living organism has different gut contents, some good some bad. When an animal is this far gone, especially dehydrated its organs will shrivel as well. REhydrating is more important than solids right now. Pedialite or the like is more beneficial as well as Vitamin powder disolved in the liquid. Adding solids can cause blockage since organs are most likely shriveled. Just like if you were to go to Emergency for dehydration the Doctors will put you on a IV drip with fluids till you are urinating. This indicates your organs have begun to get the fluids they need to function properly.. Fluids - 1-2 CC's from syringe Pedialite every 2-4 hrs. 3x daily with Vitamin mix. You dont want to drown it either hence the smaller amounts more often. Soaking in 82-88 degree Water a couple times a day. Higher humididty than normal for a beardie but dont do the 90-105 degree spot light unless Humdiity is higher in that spot. I would keep it in the mid 80's for temps.. I think Ya'll measure Temps by Celsius there so I hope this helps.. LOL | |

| Sorry just wanted to ADD I am NOT a veterinarian.. I am a guy who has kept reptiles for over 20 years and these are things I have done that have worked for me. You should always get the advice of a CERTIFIED herp vet if you can find one in your area. | |

| when you say crypto are you reffering to cryptosporidiosis? Cuz if you are I would say it is possible but doubtful, usually any animal with cryptosporidiosis has very noticeably abnormal faeces and when this lil guy pooped they were relatively normal. All the vet found wrong was mal nutrition and worms, I think this is just a case of it being too late for me to make enough of a difference. I wanted to perform an autopsy so I could check everything out, but I dont feel the original owner would like that idea very much. | |

Did not key in the entire word for fear of a major typo, Lol! I noticed the state of the poor sauria in the pics. He looked as deprived of food as much as he was dehydrated. That was why the question came Graham. But since you mentioned no fecal abnormalities were present, that pretty much says it isn't cryto (fingers crossed). Lucky it turned out negative from the vet's side. Or else you'd be fearing for the lives of the other reptiles at home. I admire your compassion for the animal Graham. | |
