| My U granulatus has bee in this stance for 2 days. Usually she is underground during the daytime. She is active at night but its not like her to be out at the moment. She gets fed 1 2i cricket a week, if she can manage it. | |

| Fractionally but not very much. I actually lifted out the piece of bark she was on and she hardly moved. small tail movements but that was all.
She has moved between two pieces of cork bark at the moment but has assumed the lifted abdominal position. Usually she is flat to the ground with the tail over the head if she is resting out in the open.
I can but hope. | |

| With no breeding info on this species it is a guessing game! I have posted picture on BTS where James has the same species. Just checking to see if his girly's are as fat as this. I know he feeds his more a week than i do. So a comparison from him will be very useful | |

| She's doing what scorps do best -- being weird! IMO, she doesn't look fat enough to be ready to birth, as her tergites are still overlapping slightly. | |

| ^^ good point.
But my pandinus practiced a good few months before birth...I noticed she had been bathing and then a week after...randomly BABIES...and even then I didnt know if she was gravid or not...
Maybe she is just practicing..or maybe she is just trying to freak you out...
i would cover her back up and check on her tomorrow...a gentle test to make sure still alive and not "frozen" in the spot....

| naah she's not frozen she's moved. But James has confirmed that his eat slightly more than mine and are no way near as fat!
When her body is 'flatter' to the ground there are now slight gaps where you can see the intersegmental membrane. Which you couldn't see about 8 weeks ago.

| hmmm.... mabye she is just doing what mike said, acting wierd.
it's like a wierd form of stilting... my scorps do it all the time even though the temps are fine.

| If the tergites are spreading, I'd lean towards the gravid assumption. | |

| I fully believe the scorpion is gravid but im unsure as to why she is in that position. I would think if its anything "healthy" then she is just practicing the position she will be in when she gives birth. My female did so a few months even before birth...so I dont think it always is just right before the birth....
*fingers crossed* that she will be ok and that there isnt something wrong xxxx

| well she's on her nightly walk around the enclosure. My scorpio Maurus upstairs has been doing this 'stilting' as well and she is fit to pop. Conditions are as they should be for both species to the best of my knowledge. I wonder if it may be the scorpion equivalent to the 'braxton hicks'! LMAO! | |
