| Distribution : Africa (Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe)
They are a high temp burrowing species. In the wild they can tolerate temps of 40 Degrees C. But in captivity i would recommend a daytime temp of 28-29 Degrees C and a night time temp of room temperature (19-20 degrees C)
As far as i know very similar to Opistophalmus Whalberghi, a species i have kept. Must Stress NON COMMUNAL!!!!
They dont like sand substrate on its own. but may be mix a little sand with some forest bed / peat substrate. I used to spray at one end a couple of times a week. Obviously a water bowl too lol.
Their happy to live under a nice piece of cork bark / rock, but would suggest a fair amount of substrate as in the wild their burrows can go 1.5m down. Their burrows also have a tendency to spiral anticlockwise for some reason lol.
Males have thicker tales and elongated peds in comparison to the females. This species is also known to stridulate. They can be aggressive but in my experience this depends on the attitude of the scorpion. They will readily tag you if you get a bad tempered one.
Breeding in captivity seems hard but WC specimens that gave birth in captivity had a good survival rate.
But a lovely impressive scorpion in any collection... nice choice but you may find you have bought a 'pet hole' lmao! | |

| I used to have a 'bad tempered' one and another that i could handle fine. Unfortunately I bought them as adults towards the end of their life so i only had them about 18mths. But given chance would jump at the chance of owning the glabifrons / whalberghi again.
Well i hope you get it anyway, pretty easy to keep, im defo envious lol
