I found this juvenile scorpion in the dry, almost desert-like area of Cappadocia, Turkey (located in the center of Turkey). The scorpion is just over 2 cm's in length, maybe 2.5 cm's.
Here are some pics:

Here's a few pics of the habitat it was found in.. maybe it'll help:

Any help is appreciated.

possibly Mesobuthus gibbosus or cyprius??? anyone else have any idea's? must admit though it looks fit to pop any day now! nice find.

If it is that sp is it a buthidae sp so check on the potency of the venom.

The scenery pictures you have taken are perfect habitat for this sp.

That's what my guess was looking at the gallery in The Scorpion Files.. Does anyone have information about this species.. like size, venom etc..

Also, the first 2 pic's is what it looked like when I found it.. the others are after 1 month in captivity and eating everything it finds Smile

So it's safe to say it's an Mesobuthus then.. How venomous are these little buggers? Does anyone have any info on them like how big they get and so on?

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it Smile

One more question.. How old would you say it is? I measured it and it's barely 3 cm's (~1.2 inches) with the tail straight.

I would guess Mesobuthus gibbosus or cyprius as LadyRiotControl said.

Mesobuthus gibbosus:

I think it's an Mesobuthus Gibbosus Anatolicus since I don't think Mesobuthus Cyprius exists in Turkey.. only in Cyprus. I've done my homework quite well on this species Razz
