IHeartMantids, it is the biggest scorpion of Israel and I think in Middle East too. Nebo hierichonticus. It's no very venomous. There are a lot of scorpion spieces in Israel.

Hi,

the venom of N.hierichonticus can cause necrosis so don't underestimate them!

Skywalker i thougt that was Hemiscorpius lepturus ?? i got a article written by Jan ove Rien, wich stats that Nebo hierochonticus is not dangerous at all, its venom is pretty mild, but Hemiscorpius lepturus is the only scorpion with necrosis venom ?
Can you have mixed them up or ?

Nope, I did not mix them up. You can read about this in the publication FAUNA PALESTINA by LEVY & AMITAI (1980). But the necrosis isn't as severe as after a sting of H.lepturus. There are a few other papers published about the venom of this species but I haven't read them myself. They are not available for free download unfortunately. But I know that necrosis after a sting of N.hierichonticus is mentioned in some of these papers as well.

ROSIN R. (1969): Effects of the venom of the scorpion Nebo hierichonticus on white mice, other scorpions and paramecia - Toxicon 7(1): 71-73

ROSIN R. (1969): Sting of the scorpion Nebo hierichonticus in man - Toxicon 7(1): 75

ROSIN R. (1973): Paper electrophoresis of the venom of the scorpion Nebo hierichonticus (Diplocentridae) - Toxicon 11(1):107-108

If anyone could help me to get these papers I would appreciate it.

The best way of watering desert species in my opinion is to just mist one side of the tank lightly.

And one more question: This is deser scorpion. I gave him water at the morning. And he was very phlegmatic during the day. Now I gave him water once again and after that he began to run in his terrarium. How often I must give him a water?

They actually need it but it's always good to have a little bottle cap full available. My desert species have lived full lives without any water.

Like I said, just a small amount of water on one end of the tank from time to time . . . maybe once a week or less.

And try waiting a week or so before feeding again -- some scorpions will go MONTHS without feeding. Smile

most desert species have adapted to get all the water they need from there food, but like eddy said a lil bottle cap full of water, at one end of the tank wont hurt lol
