hehe yeah I was shakin so bad.I had a thick glove on one hand that I used to get him onto then let him walk onto my free hand and flung the glove off.I was so scared lol

Took me roughly the same amount of time as Mike to hold mine. First time I held my emp, my hand shook like crazy. I handle all of my inverts except for my true spiders and B. jacksoni's (although I already have held them whilst unpacking). I don't want to get stung by those buthids

Btw, I had handled my first (and only) T when I first got her. I wasn't scared

Gloves aren't really a good idea -- you lose a lot of dexterity and can't really tell what you're feeling. It makes it easier to accidentally injure (or drop) your scorp. Plus they aren't very sting-proof unless they're rated against stabs.

I didnt pick him up with the glove I let him crawl onto it then lifted him up a little and he walked onto my ungloved hand,then wipped the glove off with a snap.True I had like zero dexterity but yeah I would never grab my scorp even tailing them seems a bit mean to me,but thats just me.The only way I will ever pick him up is to just let him crawl onto my hand =o) thanks for the warning though.I could be wrong but I dont think he could get his stinger through a double layer of cattlehide.Even if he did not much would poke out of the ofther side because of the thickness

If it's enough to pierce the skin, it's enough to envenomate. Not that emp venom is anything to worry about, though. I won't handle any species whose venom is enough to worry about.

Kari McWest was actually poking some fun at people who were tailing completely harmless species.

We used to have these thick rubber gloves that we used to handle our extremely aggressive Tokay geckos with that I can guarantee are sting proof.

Yeah with my pandinus imperator I only used the glove the first time I picked him up.Now when he comes out I will just put my hand down in the tank and kinda guide him onto it with the other.If he is in his hide though and I bother him in there he's very very agressive,so now I just leave him be.Even if friends come over and want to see him I just show them pics,I dont like to stress him out removeing his hide from him...
