| Our site needs some serious revamping. It has literally been dead for almost 2 weeks now haha! How bout some color scheme change? New emoticons? Logo change? Intractive chatbox at the mainpage? | |

| Hello.
There was some discussion of updating the forum a while back, (more than one color scheme, etc.) however the staff has been very busy lately. For me it's with school. That being said, I do check the forum from time to time. I've got a break coming up soon and I'll do my best to be on here then.

| I don't see why it should be going slow. This is a great place for newbies like me to talk to other people about scorpions. I love it! The glowing scorpions at the top are just awesome. The colors are cool! | |

| Well, you're all preaching to the choir. Part of the problem is that we barely have any active staff logging into the forum with any regularity other than occasionally myself. So, I have opened it up for people to request to become moderators. We could really use one or two people who can frequently be on the forum, answer questions, do maintenance, and generally help keep the place lively. One of the big problems right now is the photo directory. Some of the pictures in the directory are no longer visible or the species are now invalid. These errors need to be fixed. In addition to that, there are still a lot of pictures that could be added. For example, Hauser has given permission to use any pictures from his website: http://scorpions.f1.toMy life is kind of a cluster [does your mother know you talk like that?] at the moment, so I really don't have the time to dedicate to the forum that I'd like. So, to sum up, if you're a fairly experienced member that regularly contributes to the forum, please consider applying to be a moderator. Just go to the top, and click "groups." | |

| The picture directory has ended up a bit disastrous, unfortunately. There's no way to get most of the 'broken' pictures back. I'm going to be around more often now that winter is on its way, though. I'll start going through the directory to tidy it up. I also think adding all remaining pictures, plus any new ones submitted (likely ???hahah) to a picture hosting website run by forum mods could be a good idea. This should stop the problem of pictures disappearing. I've also got to apologise for being fairly absent. I've been spending the last couple of years making my gardening business work, so I've been working 6/7 day weeks. Anyway..... a new mod could help. I do however think we're fighting a losing battle against facebook. It's a shame.......I bet we still get a similar amount of traffic through people searching for info., but no one posts. Facebook is crud really. Any useful or interesting stuff disappears into the bowels of the scorpion pages after a couple of weeks, never to be read again. | |

| Glad to hear you'll be on here more.
And I agree, Facebook is where the action seems to be these days.
We could always make our own Facebook group similar to what arachnoboards has done. That might get more attention to the forum.

| Actually Callum,Facebook groups can be searched using keywords the same way you search a forum, you can use a word, phrase,or a username as a search term to search the group for posts on a subject,or posts by a certain user, right back to when the group was founded. However, only fb group admins seem to use the feature, usually when deciding whether to ban someone! For the last few years I've been admin on an average of 13 fb groups or so,right now I'm having a break from the drama that goes with it,so I joined up here! A facebook group may take traffic away from the forum, but a fb PAGE posting information and pictures (and the link to the forum) may attract attention,in most cases a page may advertise in groups on fridays, and some groups allow links to informative threads to be posted by members at any time. | |

| I only joined about 12 hrs ago,but one bit of feedback I can offer atm the moment is that because the forum is slow right now,it's hard to find threads to participate in without breaking the rule about not replying on threads more than a month old,I'm finding that a bit limiting today, maybe others are reading threads but feel they cant participate in the discussion because of the age of the thread? I joined today as I was researching and a link to a thread on this forum came up in a search, and I wanted to offer some information, and discuss the subject, however after joining I found it was against the rules for me to post a reply as the thread was too old. Just a friendly first observation | |

| Hello again. I still hate facebook groups! Their layout is terrible for saving very useful information. Not that you get given many detailed responses on most of the scorpion groups anyway. Forums all the way, but unfortunately most of them are dying. The scorpion section on Arachnoboards is the only English speaking one left with any noticeable traffic, and that's still not 'busy'. We do have a FB page that I post good quality pictures on, and it does get a lot of views and a reasonable number of responses i.e. likes of the page and things posted. I've been using it to try and drum up some interest in the picture directory, and I think I'll do what you mentioned and link to any interesting forum posts that come up. In regards to 'grave-digging' old threads, I personally don't have a problem with you adding to any interesting debates, so long as they're not too old (+ a year or 2 maybe?), or the debate or question has been thoroughly rounded off/answered. Use your discretion | |
