| so i bought a male Emp today to put in with my female and hopfully have more babies BUT they were CRAZY fighting!!! like trying to sting and everything so emediatly separated them. how do you "let them get to know eachother" without this kind of conflict happening? will they kill eachother? do they need like introductions, a little time hear and a little time there? | |

| Re arrange stuff, mix the soil around.
When they touch they will be cautions then slowly calm down and begin to see it is one of them.

| As Venom said. take female out the tank and up turn it all. Move the hides about, make it all different in there. They probably will have a scuffle! they could damage each other and end up with wounds. that is a posibility. But they could have a scuffle and seperate. If they seperate thats good because its means they are probably equally matched. But any scorpions could get along great and then end up having a battle to the death. Give them a little while before hoping to mate them *such as putting in a flat rock* Im sure if you change things around and put them in together *him first, then her* and keep a watchful eye but try not to worry too much xxxxxxxx | |

| Are you sure it wasn't mating you were seeing? It's also possible your female isn't receptive at this point -- was she the one that recently had a brood?
As said before, mixing up the tank can prevent territorial scuffles, but for breeding it's a good idea to introduce the male to the female's tank. That gives him some pheromones to look for.

| ok so the tank they were both put into was a new enclosure for the babies(which were put into a smaller tank) so it was a new surroundings, her hut was placed in one corner and his new ht was placed in the other, they were in his new hut and they had it flipped, she retreated to the corner QUICK and he was chasing her, they weren't doing a tail whip thing like I've seen the babies do to the others he was full out trying to sting her! i didn't really feed him before i put him in with her but he did take down 6 crickets last night, i might try it now that hes nice and full but i still don't want to risk my baby girl. And yes she is the one who had recently had the brood theres also a little bit of a size difference as well heres a pic of my female heres a pic of my new male | |

| Chela shape isn't an indicator of sex as far as I'm aware in this species.
The scuffle you saw earlier sounds to me like a courtship attempt on the part of the male. The stinging is normal during mating in a lot of species (keep in mind scorps are immune to their own species' venom -- the sexual sting is just to help calm the female). Since your female has had a brood so recently she probably isn't receptive yet.
