| I knew something was wrong when I saw him out of his hide during the day. He never comes out, and so to check on him I put on my glove and touched his back legs. No immediate response, but he kinda casually walked away from my hand. Then yesterday I saw him drinking and thought "maybe it's too dry in there?". So I gave it a good mist down. Then today I noticed he REALLY wasn't doing good, when I saw his right pedipalp in a very uncomfortable position, bent all the way behind him. So, I put the gloves on, moved him out of there, and took some final "Goodbye" pictures. There he is, dying on my hand, but still alive. Pictures of him on my hand. Don't worry, I tried not to stress him out too much. I did this at my own comfort, since he was dying after all. He was much too ill to put up a fight. - Handling Pictures:
He was the best looking of the three adults I have, and the largest. I'm going to miss him very much. He's in the freezer now, to end his suffering. He was one of the coolest scorpions I had, and I believe everyone in the hobby should at some point own one of these magnificent species.

Yeah well, he was wild caught. So I think maybe he was just too old and his time has come. I'm cremating him right now... I have another males who looks like he could be a whole instar behind, but as a matter of fact he was old enough to mate with my female. As for the broods, I've got another one on the way! They mated a month ago! Also have 4 hungry 3i's babies . | |
