Pandinus imperator Empty
PostSubject: Pandinus imperator   Pandinus imperator Empty2/25/2008, 3:01 pm

I have handled this species a number of times without ever coming close to being stung. I do have one female I avoid though because she has stung a brush as I was attempting to rehouse them. My first ever scorpion sting came from an emp someone gave to me for free while at work. As I was demonstrating to some coworkers (I work at PetsMart, by the way) the anatomy and docile nature of this specimen he perked up and began to crawl around my hand. Most of my scorpions have no problem holding onto me and crawling completely upside down, this one on the other hand had trouble gripping me (possibly due to age). He fell twice both of which times I managed to catch him quickly. The second time he landed almost upside down in my hand and planted his stinger into the side of my finger. Very little pain and most likely a dry sting. It felt like getting poked with a pin. No irritation around the site, only a small red mark where the aculeus pierced the skin. By the time I left work I couldn't find the mark and had forgotten where I'd been stung. I'd never be worried about a sting from this species.
