I'm not an expert on either species but that looks like an H. arizonesis that could be gravid or premolt.

Definitely a H. arizonensis. Looks like it will molt soon, but i'll keep my fingers crossed. If it molts let us know how it went. Also change her to sand. They like damp sand on occasion but that kind of moisture will give her mycosis.

How long would it take for her to obtain mycosis? I was thinking I could take her out tommorow...

it would take a llittle while. Something that develops. I would just put her in a rubbermaid or kritter keeper until you can redo the container. H.a live in high humid burrows deep under the ground, so I don't think the humidiity will be that bad, but why take a chance.

They might have burrows wich have humidity, but nothing like emp humdity.. and allso the scorps can control it them self by coming up and down in the burrow.. they such be keept dry but give them a bottlecap with water a couple of days a week

agree'd it looks like one. I hate the term 'tri-colour' they may as well stick a label on saying 'i havent got the foggiest idea!'

But there again it's ok if you know your stuff coz you may get something thats worth a lot more and the shop dont know it Smile

What kind of sand do they need? I was thinking about going to home depot but would plain old sand or sand box sand be ok?

I have been told to have sand mixed with..something and I cant rememeber but to be wet and to dry out. then to introduce the scorpion.

I would take it out and into a paper towel like enclosure until you can get it sorted as you dont want to risk mycosis

I use aquarium sand. I mix fine sand, courser sand and dirt with just enough water to get the mixture entirely damp. Then place it in the tank and allow it to dry. People always say to allow it to dry but I am usually too impatient. This mixture provides a for stability and isn't as hard as concrete. Here a couple pics.

I mix my substrates with riverbed sand, once it has dried out, and with a blast of moisture once a day it seems to hold pretty well for anything that burrows

He said "aquarium sand" at the top of the post.

The stuff Connie was thinking of was Excavator sand, mixed 1:2 with regular sand (or 70%:30%, they're pretty close). Mine's burrows kept collapsing until I added the excavator. Now she just doesn't burrow. scratch
