these scorps are great for begginers, and good for handling. although, they shouldn't be handled too much. if you get a large enough tank they can also be kept communaly, wich is very interesting as well.

good luck with your new pet & hobby. Smile

also, do you know all the correct care information for this species?

if not, it may be worthwhile reading this...

They say the hairy desert scorpion (hadrurus arizonensis) is a beginers scorpion too. I have emperors and one H. Arizonensis. Emperors are hidden most of the time if not always, when the H. Arizonensis stays out more often. I love my H. Arizonensis, it's supposed to be more aggressive than an emperor, but mine isn't. Can't keep communally from what I hear.

welcome to the hobby and getting your first love, the pandinus imperator.

With this scorpion you need a nice deep coco fibre substrate, a heat mat, water bowl and HIGH humidity with plently of hides depending on how many you have Smile

^^An extension to Connie's advice, do NOT place a heatmat on the bottom of the tank -- only on the side. (Scorpions burrow to escape heat, so if it get hotter, they burrow deeper, then they get hotter still . . . and you can guess what happens.)

Regarding H. arizonensis, I never see mine since she made a nice deep burrow. She too has become a pet hole; she was only out and about before she dug down to the bottom of her tank.

Cameron; in addition to the caresheet you were linked to, here's an emperor scorpion FAQ that should answer just about any question you may have about these guys.
