the UK has a vast array of fascinating spiders!
some are probably native by naturalisation now, like Segestria florentina, which is stunning, or
Steatoda nobilis which is fun just for being a false widow.
in addition there are the Tegenaria sp that run round, and i think are underrated beauties.
we also have a Mygalomorph, Atypus afinis. it is small, and i have yet to see one! but i am looking forward to it one day

as for aggressive...well i am, to put it mildly, sick to death of that word being applied to arachnids. as someone said on the BTS forum, people are aggressive, spiders are defensive.
there is a massive difference, and use of the word aggression makes me concerned that the only attraction some people have to these creatures is how "dangerous" they are, or how "hard" they will look to their friends because they keep them.
this word also fuels the irrational fear so many people have of spiders.
the reality is that spiders need to defend themselves. they will do so in a variety of ways, and some are more skittish, fast, or prone to bite than others. given respect for the animal however, most bites can be avoided. the ones that do occur under those circumstances are down to carelessness, idiocy, complacency, or just bad luck.
sorry if i sound harsh, but this is the truth.
wanting to keep spiders or scorpions for the danger factor is entirely the wrong reason.
it's like those muppets that go round with Staffies cause they make them look "tough", but in reality everyone can see they are just an idiot who doesn't deserve a dog...dogs are not fashion accessories.
