Hey everybody,

My H. Arizonensis doesn't dig anymore, doesn't build tunnels like she used to, doesn't do anything I believe, but lay under the sand.

I got that feeling again, that feeling that something was off.

I have decided to place Jabba in ICU.
She has significantly lost weight. Her pleural membranes are all wrinkly .
She kind of looks dehydrated, refuses all food, and is very lethargic.
I dug her out and she just lay there on her back, I thought she had died.
But she lives. She acts... well drowsy is the only thing I can think off.

I have read that they sometimes turn lethargic in the winter season or when they are premolt.

I strongly thought she was premolt. But she doesn't look fat, and I can't see or keep missing the signs she is in fact premolt.

I am afraid that she is very weak and I have her now in an old tank, with a layer of sand, and the bare necessities.
I am going to keep watching her like a hawk the coming time.
I will try to get her to eat.

After a while she started moving around again, that was a relief.
She now sits under the hide

I gently lifted her up to make these pictures.
You can clearly see the damage the mycosis has done.
I will contact the store and report this to them.

She didn't protest at all.
I'd rather that she did.
I am so very worried.

Sad

Joey

I did.
She is very calm and sits right under the burrow.
I added a bottle cap water and a prey.
I tried to offer her the prey but she turns away from it.
I made it dark and warm in my room, I hope that will entice her to become more active.
I placed her on loose sand so she can't dig very far, I am going to check on her every few hours.

No change.
Got some size 6 crickets today, thought it might help getting smaller prey items, I normally only give small grashoppers.

She is still displaying typical refusal signs, turning the body away, making sweeping movements with her telson.

I put in a few small crickets, and hope she will get stimulated to feed.
If she doesn't feed, well. I can't do more than that.

I contacted the store. They told me she didn't display any signs of an illness with them.
I explained the whole mycosis problem.

I told them perhaps no behavioral signs but the necrotic scars where there.
I told them I will keep documenting this.

pale

They told me if she passes in the not too distant future, I will get a free replacement.
I don't know if I would want that. I don't want to take on any more juvenile specimens of this species, until the whole molting issue is resolved. And to be honest I want to hand pick my specimens and check them personally, or get detailed pictures.

I have her in ICU at the moment, and there she will remain.

My display cage will be refurbished for a new desert species.

If she pulls through, I will personally buy her an entire new enclosure.
At this time, I remain worried.

I really REALLY don't like how this feels, but there is nothing more I can do.

Very bummed out.

You are doing all you can. Mycosis can slowly deteriorate their health. Its exactlu what my male liosoma acted like although mine was not so skinny

Fingers crossed

That's cool. Where I am the only food I can get for my scorpions is crickets and meal worms and none of my scorpions has ever looked twice at a meal worm.

At my store there is a selection of 8 sizes crickets... 3 sizes grashopper, mealworms, morioworms etc.
I can get quite a bit. But I variate between crickets size 6/7 and grashoppers.

Mainly because the grashoppers are bigger and all of my scorpions can handle them except my H. Arizonensis but that might just be because of her condition.

Crickets as the only food items are just fine, but I can imagine you would want to try something different.
Where are you from Yames?
