PostSubject: My Specimen Cabinet   My Specimen Cabinet Empty3/21/2013, 1:46 pm

So the deal with my wife is I can get as many scorpions as my heart desires however they can not be in reach of my now very mobile daughter. So I bought this cabinet to set up my collections…barely fits I might need another cabinet stacked on top of his one for any future scorps but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. Anyways here’s the set up it’s a three section cabinet. None of my scorps are diggers so no one get all crazy when I say I have undertank heaters. Each section of the cabinet has two 10/20 gallon heat pads at the bottom and two 5 gallon heat pads on the sides (one on each side). Child safety locks have been installed and I also put a chain on the door handles for added protection. And the very top is my Display(of course) G.ankarana which is also strapped down and in a locked display (courtesy of Mako)
Closed cabinet (unlocked for pictures)

And you can’t see from the other pictures but the ankarana came out to peek at what was going on with movement.

Nice set up Eddy. Good overview of safety precautions for the little one. I'll have to research that G. Ankarana...not familiar with that species.

It's fairly rare, at least here in the U.S the best I can do as far is info is the paper describing this species.

Very cool. It gets to a good size and the colors are really nice. I like the rare species that always pop up in the hobby.

Yes it's indeed a very interesting species to say the least. These guys are as big as an H.arizonensis , they're colorful, they are very active even at room tempearture, they don't burrow so they don't become petholes and they are semi-bark scorpions meaning they spend half their day under a hide and the other half climbing bark. The female's favorite hunting position is upside down on bark hide. I've only had these guys a week now but I think I might have a new favorite scorpion, and I'm pretty determined to breed them.

I haven't seen them on any of the regular dealer sites. I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks for bringing this one to our attention. Good luck with the breeding attempt!
