Feeding time

My new emps got acquainted and now they don't want to leave each other. This is my first time feeding them. The female was trying to grab the second cricket that was for the male when she already had her mouth stuffed with one!



This cricket is a bit big, but I don't think I'm gonna let him eat the whole thing... The pet store only had large ones and this was the smallest I had, so I didn't really have a choice... I also cut the legs off of the cricket so that he wouldn't kick the scorp and scare him.

He stung the cricket ONCE and immobilized him almost instantly... I didn't know their venom was THAT powerful when they're this small. Wow!

DUDE!!!!!!!! What happened to your scorp's tail?? DON'T tell me you put a cricket that big in with a scorp that small without headcrushing it first!

Wait, nevermind. I see that it's covered by dirt. Carry on.

Yes, that's pure awesome that a scorp that tiny took out a cricket that huge.

He'll be eating this cricket all night. I hope he can't die if he does eat the whole thing..

He'll get as much as he can and then look like a blimp -- maybe until the next molt.

Y'know, I think there's a photocontest going on for something like that . . .

I had that contest in mind.. Dunno why I didn't post it..

I should've let my female grab another cricket in her other chela and then snapped a photo.

Update on the B. jacksoni: He's eaten the whole head of the cricket.

Adam Jansen @ AJExotics.com made a mistake on my order and sent me two females... Guess I'll have to wait for my other little emp to grow up. Hopefully that one's a male. He hasn't molted since I got him and that was in December I think.

I'm heated @ that mistake. He said he'd give me a male on my next order but I'm not going to have money to spend on scorps for a while!

has the other been IDed as a female too?
Have you shown the guys on here?
Take a pic of each again and set them up.

But if you see someone climbing the glass, take a good note. even better if both are out for a wonder

The other one is massive and looks fatter, so I'm assuming that it's a female. I'll have to check the next time she comes out. Even if she was a he, I still couldn't breed them so as it is b/c my other girl is a juvi.

and yes, he said that the bigger one was a female.

well he also said the other was a male.......

breeding wont take too long once the other gets mature and if he is actually a he.

I've ID'd the other one as a female, too. It's got the heart-shaped (or fly-shaped, if you may) genital operculum.

thats ashame. but mabye one is gravid?

He said she's possibly gravid. I hope so!
