| These are my first desert set-ups. Tomorrow I'm setting up my emporer colony enclosure.

| Nice start. I would suggest to avoid using glass tanks for anything Androctonus. | |

| Thanks, Why is that? I can switch to something else, what do you recomend? I figured glass would be easiest to keep the heat up. | |

| Glass is prone to break and the possibility of an escaped fat tail running around the house greatly increases. Imagine the worst case and prepare for it. That is the best way to keep "hots". Use plastic containers. | |

| Thanks, You know when I kept hot herps I would never dreamed of using glass. I must be slipping. You're right, it's getting moved today. Thanks for catching that. | |

| I personally wouldn't have any worries about using glass tanks. Aquariums are designed to hold several gallons of water, which is alot of weight and pressure placed on the glass. Relatively empty tanks will usually have to take a forceful impact or a fall to crack or fracture. But that is up to the keeper to make sure the enclosures are located in a safe place away from potential falls or flying objects. Of course, if you live in an earthquake prone area, you may want to reconsider though. Some clear plastic cages...like kritter keepers and the like...are much more likely to crack or break than glass with an impact, as the material is much more brittle. | |

| Yeah acrylic is probably best if you're worried about breaks but as vesper said if it's in a safe place, I don't see the glass getting cracked our broken easily. Personally I use plastic myself, why? I'm cheap | |
