Nice looking Haddy. These guys are obligate burrowers and need a sand/clay substrate that will support tunnels and burrows. Loose dry sand won't do the job. Here's what a Haddy does when given the correct substrate:

Looks great, what kind of brand substrate do you use? Or do you make it yourself?

I use a mix of 80% play sand and 20% Zoo Med excavator clay. The substrate should be moistened, tamped down and allowed to dry completely. It's best to work in layers of about 2 inches to speed drying. Here's a thread on how I constructed my enclosure. You'll also find several good discussions on Haddy substrate by searching for "H. arizonensis". The topic comes up quite often.
