| Hey guys, I got this little guy/girl today, it was sold as an Emperor Scorpion, but I'm doubting it. I already own an Emperor, so I was able to compare, there are differences...or so it seems to my untrained eye. From what I've seen and read online, I'm thinking its an Asian Forest Scorpion....what do you guys think? | |

| Male Pandinus cavimanus. (Red claw scorpion.)
Is that the tank you're keeping it in? If so, you need to fix that ASAP.

| This is only temporary, until tomorrow in fact.
Red claw? I'm totally unfamiliar with them, I need to do research ASAP. What would you recommend for the tank?

| The care is the same as your emp. But moist substrate suitable for burrows is recommended instead of wood chips. Products like eco-earth. | |

| +1 to Yames. It's the same care as for emps and Heteterometrus...they're all pretty closely related.
There's a caresheet section on the forum you should look through if you get the chance.

| Character is somewhat different than Emps though, at least that is what I find so far. It is more defensive and skittish and tends to get excited very quickly. | |

I read about this, why is it that they prefer a lower humidity then Emps?

| Before you put your new substrate in, read up on false bottom set ups. Do a search here on the forum. | |

I read about this, why is it that they prefer a lower humidity then Emps? to be honest i can't remember why but was advised a while back to keep them a little dryer, been keeping them like it for a few month's an their doing fine. i tend to have the rub fairly dry in one end an damp in the other they get a good spray every week an a half is, they have both burrowed in the dry end an spend most of their time there

| This species is generally imported from Tanzania. The climate there is dryer than tropical West Africa where P. imperator is found. | |

| A mom and pop petshop in Bell Ca. Don't know the name but I visit from time to time. Probably not worth the drive south for you. | |

Thank you, I thought I was something to do with their original habitat. I recently noticed that when the coco peat dries, when you mist, only a small top layer of the peat will become moist again. I now use a water can, and once in 2 weeks "I water the ground" till I see more condensation on the glass and the substrate is saturated. Not over saturated though, or her tunnels would flood. And I now mist a few times a week to keep humidiy between 60-70 %. Joe
