Hello and welcome! Cool scorp! I have never had one of these guys but read the care sheet for desert scorps in this forum if you have already not done so. They do like a hide. Usually just a piece of cork bark that they can make a scrape under is good enough.

Your scorp has a dangerous sting so make sure you are very, very careful not to let him sting you. I would think a medium Critter Keeper type enclosure or 2.5 gallon aquarium with a secure top would be good for him. I like really good ventilation for desert scorps to let excessive moisture out. For hot scorps I like to have an enclosure that they can't climb out of even if the lid is off and they are standing on the highest point of their cage (such as on a hide). If they can grap the top of the cage they can do a "pullup" and escape over the top. You don't want this guy running around your house!

It looks like to me your scorp is large enough to eat once a week. One or two roaches or crickets per week should be all he (or most likely she) needs.

Make sure you get some long tongs to do cage cleaning, etc. with. Don't ever put your hands in his cage and don't ever pick up a hide with your fingers as the scorp can run around very quickly on the hide to your hand and sting you. Also, make sure no other people, kids, pets, etc. can get to your scorp. Do be careful and have fun! Below is the desert scorp care link:

Yes they are and yours is most likely a female. I even think the males can give birth??? Wierd! Maybe some of the others with experience with this species can chime in but I think you need to keep your little beauty at a farly warm temp for her to give birth. I'm not sure exactly what temp though. For now maybe keep her around 80 degrees F. What are you doing for heat now?

Yours is a female and it will at some point become pregnant and give birth. The males do not become pregnant and although they (males) may exist in the wild there are virtually none in captivity from what I've researched. I'm super jealous as this little scorp of yours is VERY HIGH on my want list. Read the Desert guide and just follow it. It is very fun to have a scorpion brood under your care.

Tell me you're from Canada esp. Ontario so I can pick up some of the babies once they come along.
