| My friend got this guy from one of his friends. No clue as to what kind it is to find a caresheet for the little guy. I'm almost positive it's not a native species.... | |

| That's a hard one. There are a number of arboreal scorpions that look quite similar to this, and I'm not super familiar with the taxonomy. If that was found in Louisiana then it's not native though.
Here's a couple species to look at, Lychas mucronatus, and Isometrus maculatus. Both look similar to that one.

| what exact type I couldn't begin to guess. However I'm fairly sure it's a Bark scorpion and not fully developed yet they always seem to have much more vibrant colors as juveniles so read GS's HOW TO or ASA on them and that should get you started on how to keep it healthy and alive. https://scorpionforum.darkbb.com/t7701-asa-bark-scorpions-caresheet | |

| It wasn't found in Louisiana. I know that he bought it from a friend who knew nothing about it. He just purchased it online because he thought it looked cool.
It is not a bark scorp....I have bark scorps, and doing all my research on them, never saw one that has this guys coloring.
No he is not a professional, but has one of those expensive Nikkon cameras and knows how to use it....lol.

| I'm going to guess that you have a Lychas marmoreus. Which is a bark scorpion from Australia.
How big is it? that may help in identifying it as well.

| Beat me to it Yames. I was just waiting for the bull**** to spill out when I asked if his mate is a pro photographer.
http://www.flickriver.com/places/Australia/Queensland/Dalcouth/ http://www.flickr.com/people/ogcodes/ Micheal G Jeffries, who happens to have travelled Australia a lot, plus it says Lychas marmoreus on your link Yames lol.
Come on denya1, you should give the taker of that amazing picture some credit.

| The image was sent to me from him...He just asked if I knew what it was. I told him I could post the pic on the forum. I am just a middle person here. I deal with C. Vittatus.
@yames, thanks for the link, will be forwarding all this to him, and thank him for making me look like a fool by trying to help him out.

| The picture was taken by the photographer in 2010, and already has a description, including the species name, underneath it.
I'm not trying to make you look a fool, but this is a bit of a strange thread.

| Just because the picture was taken and that web site had a description and name on it doesn't mean it was the first resource anyone found in a scorpion data base. I started my search on this page http://eycb.pagesperso-orange.fr/scorpions/Fiches2.htm and narrowed it down to 2 likely looking candidates 1. Centruroides arctimanus and 2. Lychas infuscatus now since both families have multiple subs I then Google searched lychas and centruroides looking at images for matches. That particular picture isn't found until page 2 of the search. So even though it ended up being a borrowed picture and known specimen. It was still a very fun exercise in scorpion Id. And I'm proud that I nailed it. Now our poster since he was asked buy a friend to ID the scorpion let's give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't start on the known page and was rather e-mailed a stand alone picture from a non scorpion savvy friend who thought this scorpion looked cool and didn't know that strange Latin name was the name of it. Or maybe that friend doesn't use english as his/her first language and didn't read that page at all. It's very easy to look back at the end and say where the mistakes are but take a moment and think about things through someone else eyes. We don't need to "catch" people or call them out. We are all here out of love for scorpions and a desire to expand our understanding. So I'm giving denya1 the benefit of the doubt and not trying to embarrass or start anything. But nice call finding the correct website first Callum. | |

| @ Yames, thank you..and yes, the pic was sent to my phone via text message. I know for a fact that he does have a high quality camera, so the clarity and quality of the pic didn't set off any red flags. And I would like to add, I am female, not male. Lol. | |
