Risk? Empty
PostSubject: Risk?    Risk? Empty11/5/2012, 7:04 pm

Hi all

I rescued a P. Imperator back in the summer from petco and he(?) has been content since then. Typical healthy pet hole that I have not seen really come out from the hide/burrow. I was considering picking up a second specimen, but I am concerned that there will be territorial issues given he has been on his own now for a while. Would it be feasible to introduce a second to the enclosure if I rearranged the decorations to try and "mix" up the territory?

Thanks.

Yes mixing up the defined territories will help them to not fight. Wait to get another scorpion at the time you would be doing a full substrate change already and introduce both of them at the same time.

You mean to remove the chemical trails?

They do use chem trails to mark territory but also I believe they protect their burrows based on them being in it and not knowing this new intruder. If they are reintroduced to a fresh substrate with multiple new unowned hides and allowed to sort it out from neutral territorial boundaries it would work out. Even pulling the one and moving the hides around a bit would work. I just said do it at tank maintenance time to reduce stressing your emp twice.
