Iv'e had my versicolor sling for about a week and a half but he doesn't seem to be making a web. He's eating, which is good, but he looks like he is trying to web and he moves his abdomen around like he is attaching silk to the bark he is on, but no silk is ever produced. Should i be worried as he is only about half an inch leg span.

Did you check his web cartridges? Maybe it's out?
I'll not worry about it since he's eating well.
Maybe others can chip in if they had similar experiences.

It could be the web is too fine to notice at the moment. A week and a half is not a very long time to build a web structure. I usually wait at least two weeks before considering a tarantula has even settled down. Some will web a lot more than others and I've noticted Versi's actually put down a very thick webbing too, which should be fun to watch in some time. This does not pertain to webbing but just make sure you have a good level of humidity and ventilation. Best of luck!
