| Cool set up. Do they try to burrow and make places to hide from daylight? And in that second pic are they being friendly or did that big one start eating that little one? And I guess my final question is what species is this? | |

| There use to be a total of 9 Scorpions in there .. now only 3 left.. the larger ones ate up the smaller ones .
Leiurus quinquestriatus; Death Stalker Scorpion according to some colleagues over here.
I've found the big scorpions like to hang out near the lid, the little one burrows underneath the water dish.

| They don't look like LQ's to me. LQ's have a lighter body build and the 5th segment on the metasoma is dark.
I honestly don't know what species they are though.
Is there any way you could separate them?
You will eventually end up with one really fat scorpion.
The substrate looks too shallow as well. I'd offer around 3-4 inches as they do like to burrow.

| Scorpion19981000 , Thanks for the tip... I'll add more substrate , I've ordered another aquarium recently awaiting it to be shipped over here..will put the smaller scorpion in other one , once it arrives.
Fortunately these scorpions are in abundance .. I've flipped over some rubbish on the ground and seen up to 20 scorpions in one spot.

| Sounds good man.
Hopefully someone else on here will be able to help accurately ID them.

| I agree that I don't think they look like Death stalkers (Leiurus quinquestriatus) or Lq's in the trade. Also I believe Lq's are more communal then these sound. For now if you don't want to loose any more you could put the smaller ones in deli cups with lids still in that aquarium to keep them safe from the big one.
As far as giving you a positive ID I'm sure not your man. But they are still pretty cool to look at.

| Can you get a close up shot of one of the big ones? At the moment I will say Hottentotta species. | |

| I might be wrong but they look like Hottentotta jalalabadensis or H.buchariensis. Both occur in Afghanistan but the exact region is unknown to me, maybe Khandar(Might be wrong spelling). Miska1962 might know the exact species.

| Well I'm super jealous that you can just flip over rocks and find 20 amazing pets. The way they mash up against the glass should make sexing them fairly easy too. As soon as we get a positive ID we can go with pectine counts but I'm pretty sure you can see the sex organs in these belly shots. Just a little closer or clearer and it could be done. | |

Have you managed to feed them yet?

| And the cannibalizing is still going on? So they must be fairly aggressive territorially.
And now I'm super jealous of your night vision avatar there. I've always wanted to play with night vision. Do we know if scorpions can see the beam they emit? If they can see it it may be bright enough to stress them if it was left on all night. But I'm sure you don't do that so don't worry about it.
