Saw some awesome tank set-ups in the show off section. And got a couple ideas for my own for sure.

Some people had some really cool labels on theirs, and I wanted to know what more experienced people think of my info sheet for my Spinifers.

I pretty much like the design, more curious if its accurate enough, esp. the Found in section.

Also I realize the ratings are subjective to some, but a general consensus will be fine for these.

Good Job on the template... but I wouldn't know how the gauges for venom, aggression and speed translate accurately. As for the distribution, I'm gonna have another read through of Kovarik's 2004 origin checklist for specimens of this species and i'll get back to you on that one...

cheers and best regards

Thanks so much Alex! you're the Man. I figure the gauges are accurate enough for my liking. better to over estimate than under in my opinion. But your opinion on those matters wouldn't hurt either, as you've been taking care of them for far longer and in greater numbers than I have... yet...

That's a good safe guard to some measure... hmmm but I think Heterometrus in general get a bad rep in their countries of origin just because they look big and scary enough. I don't think anyone's ever died from a Heterometrus sting either so the skull and cross bones thing might be pension for exaggeration, but that's my personal feelings about it. Nonetheless... good job on the label.

Cheers

I picked skull and cross bones as they use it on everything that's poisonous in chems, cleaners etc. So it seemed fitting. Kinda a simplistic MSDS.

I realize that the Spinifers are essentially equivalent to a bee sting or maybe wasp. I don't plan on attempting to find out though.

Thanks again for the encouragement.

It's really nothing bad.. only a slight reddish welt which acutely dims to tingly numb sensation as opposed to the initial hot prick. I've found the stings of juveniles to burn much more than those of adults.

This is a photo of a sting I got from one of my captive-bred adults.

My mistake mind you... I lifted the bark piece and the scorpion was clinging to the underside and I my fingers pinned it against the bark. I've had worst bouts with people! Razz

Mind you some people might get an allergic reaction but it really is far less worse than any bee or wasp sting. Speaking from what I've experienced, I rather be stung by 5 H. spinifers at the same time than to be hit by one wasp!
