cork bark from store Empty
PostSubject: cork bark from store   cork bark from store Empty9/9/2012, 11:54 pm

Hey everyone,

I'm gonna be setting up my tank for the H. spinifers that should be arriving this week. I went to one of the decent stores in my area and got some cork bark.

My question is, should I bake it? I'm leaning towards yes. I believe I've seen instructions of 300-350 for about 30 mins. with a quick washing before to remove debris.

Also I got a exoterra type hide, I'd say its ceramic....? best guess. would it be prudent to bake this as well, if I'm going to do something I like to do it properly. So effort involved is fine by me.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Aaron.

You could bake the cork bark if it looks like it has not been cleaned in any kind of way.

The hide is exo terra, or just the same type? Either way, I wouldn't bake it, as most hides and decor are really injection moulded resin and not real ceramics.

That is a good point about the hide. I'll just wash it.

But, the cork bark was just sitting in a bulk bin. not individually packed or wrapped.

Thanks much,

Aaron

Aaron

Then you are doing the right thing in baking or boiling it.
