| help , i get my first scorpion(Heterometrus longimanus) yesterday. it climbing around and sometimes sleep for a long while. but it seem to be not eating (i fed it with mealworm ). i kept it in my room and the temp is around 20C-25C . is it not adapt to the atmosphere or the temp it too low for my scorpion ?
the man told me this scorps is only 2.instar , i should get more same species for it as mate , or it just fine to have only one in a tank ?
THIS IS MY FIRST SCORPION , CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LEND ME YOUR HAND 。

| Hello, welcome to the forum. Here are some links that you might find helpful: [ASA] Heterometrus longimanus and [ASA] Forest Scorpions' Caresheet Don't worry about it not eating, just try to feed it once a week. The temp should be around 25-30°C, with 30°c being preferable. I'd suggest buying an infrared heat lamp. It's fine to have only one in a tank. | |

| From your pics, your scorp looks closer to 3rd or 4th instar than to 2nd. Could you post a picture with it next to something for size reference? Or at least tell it's length. Scorpions are measured from the front edge of the prosoma (head) to the telson (stinger). If it is only second instar, getting an accurate ID and gender is challenging to say the least. No, it does not look in premolt. Scorpions look very fat when they are in premolt. It'd look similar to this if it was: - Heterometrus swammerdami 2nd instar premolt:

i afraid my scorp cannot endure suffering from hunger >< If you have offered food and it's not taken by the scorpion. Most likely it means that she's not hungry. They are able to refuse food for months. Keep trying weekly or once every two weeks. Not to worry about it. You may wish to do a search regarding this query for more research. e.g. "Help, my scorpion not eating" [HOW TO] Search for Scorpion's InformationJuvenile/sub-adults usually often eats continuously until they are looking all FAT and the feeding would slow down pretty much or to a complete stop for a few weeks while they are approaching their next molt. - chaceliew wrote:

One of the signs, is having her chela "sticking out" from her hide/burrow in anticipation of passing-by prey items. | |

| GS is right scorpions can go without food for quite a while as they have slow metabolisms. just make sure your temperature and humidity is correct. Your scorpion will eat when she feels like it. | |
