Well, with hermit crabs, most people say to keep their temperatures in the 80s, but they LOVE it when it spikes up into the 90s-100. It may be the same with scorps. Than again, it may not. Just to be safe, I would try to keep the temp down. To do that, you may want to turn up the AC a bit in the house, and if you don't have AC, than you could get a fan. They don't cost all that much, and they are even cheaper if yuo can get one at a thrift store or something of the like.

okay thanks, yeah i was worried about them in hot weather, wanted to hear what people had to say about it, i guess they survive in the desert but mines not a desert species- rainforest.... the fans always on dont have an AC...i dont know how scorpion act if they get overheated i never had it happen before but its going to be really hot in 2 days. i guess i wont mist the tank that day it will probably make it hotter with the humidity..puting in a false bottom soon Smile

is it going to be 101 inside your house where you keep your scorps? I doubt you will have these temps in your house but in any case, your friends should be fine. It reached 104 here in the piece of Georgia the other day and has been hella hot and all my inverts have been ok. The room they are all kept in in not AC'ed and ambient room temp in there has been over 90

Misting your enclosure will not raise the temperature. If anything, you should probably be misting more during hot weather. Better yet, forgo the misting and pour the water directly onto your substrate. As long as your substrate is moist, your Emperor should do fine with an ambient temperature in the 90s.

In the wild, scorpions escape the heat of the day by staying their burrows. P. imperator burrows can reach a depth of several feet. Some desert species, such as H. arizonensis, burrow even deeper. Deeper the burrow, lower the temperature. Someone (I don't recall who) recently posted a video of a team collecting Emperor scorpions in Togo. It will give you a good idea of the Emperors' natural habitat as well as the temperatures in their burrows. Here's the video link (turn on English subtitles).

Edit: The video was posted by snippy on arachnoboards.
