First off my ir bulb keeps drying up my water dish. Im curious if the make water pellets for scorpions like they do crickets our if the cricket stuff would work. 2nd I just hear today about head crushing crickets before throwing them in the tsank. Had never heard of doing that before. Is it a good idea. Kinda need the whole thing explained to me.

You're better off adding water ...i hear ya about it drying up though. Also crushing the cricket head isnt really needed unless you suspect a molt is near

Are there any negatives to crushing the heads?

My views:

Cons of head-crushing crickets
- Crickets might gets left uneaten and their corpse will attract mites/ fruit fly larvaes
- Checks on the tank required within 1-2 days after feeding attempt, and do tank maintenance e.g. removal of uneaten crickets on the substrate

Pros of head-crushing crickets

- No risk on having them attacking on possibly molting scorpions
- No issues of facing outbreaks of cricket babies within the tank due to the presence of adult female crickets
- No issues of facing mating sounds of adult male crickets (not a problem if you do not mind the "feel" of outfield camping)

Cool thx.my guy seems to get the krickets easier with crushed heads. I'm pretty good boot checking the tank for parts or uneaten crickets so not worried bout mites. Thanks for the info.

Even for crickets/roach colonies.. we can do without these gel thingy.

For provision of water, using lettuce/carrots would suffice.

Always use clean water (e.g. straight from the drinking tap in our homes) for our scorpions and tarantulas.

+1.
Quite frankly, I think the gel just makes a mess. Crickets and roaches seem to love carrying the pieces around and dropping them where they please.
