| I think you can be confident that, that's what you have. But a few more pic's wouldn't hurt. | |

| Here is a link to an extremely through resource for iding the Heterometrus genus. I've used this key to identify many species of "unknown" and thus labeled spinifer Heterometrus over the years. This method may take more time than a quick yes or no, but the enrichment and certainty you will gain my taking the hard route will be well worth the effort. Enjoy!

| It's not a spinifer. H. spinifer has a pronounced internal tubercle on the patella of the pedipalp. It is either H. petersii or H. laoticus. I'm leaning towards laoticus because I can't see any granulation on the carapace. Close up pics of the chela and carapace would be helpful. - Envyizm wrote:

http://www.science.marshall.edu/fet/euscorpius/p2004_15.pdf +1. In addition to that, you may want to take a look at these: [ASA] Heterometrus longimanusHeterometrus granulation keys.

I would say that it's not spinifer or petersii. Although petersii doesn't have as pronounced of a patella internal tubercle as spinifer, it is still present in the species. Take a glance at the holotype in the id guide if your skeptical. I will second Scorpion1998 in saying that, from the pictures given, it appears to be laoticus.
