I'm the proud owner of a Chinese Water Dragon. I was initially told a 55long would be more than sufficient for a CWD, when I bought him from Petsmart (mistake #1, listening to petsmart employees). Well at least the 55l was good for him, as a youngin' but he's getting older now, and I've got a custom build slowly coming along as spare money trickles in, which is sadly in short supply.
I'm so far the only one that's "allowed" to hold him, others risk bites; and while they don't pack a venomous punch, like many of your scorpions do, he can, draw blood and rip the skin pretty well.
Here's a head shot:
His name is The Dude, yes I was watching a lot of the big lebowski when I got him.
Other animals I'd like to care for: a P.Imperator, a Bearded Dragon, a dog, preferably a black lab, a cat, with short to medium hair rather than a hairless/long hair variety. Too bad I have to wait on the dog and cat, as our apartments only allowed "tanked" animals, not even caged will suffice. I guess they've had some bad problems with birds before.
Well, all of the above are girlfriend approved at the moment. I've been fighting her for a scorpion, and she insists that it has to be one with a very mild sting, so P.Imperator sounds just about right, it also seems very common and easy to get. I'm also familiar with having to keep humid conditions and higher temps for my CWD, so it'll be right up my alley.

Nice...I had a baby water dragon I found. It was an escaped pet but I found it a new owner.

Cool dragon -- those guys are pretty.
Best solution to your problem: give your girlfriend a tarantula.
If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic.
Be nice -- you were a noob once, too
