PostSubject: Help a Newbie :p (Australis & Arizonis or w.e.)   2/17/2012, 7:52 pm

So ive always been into scorpions
i had one Emperor scorpion but he wasnt "vicious" enough of me so i got a Desert Hairy
ive had mine for about a year now, i dont know what instr he is but he seems pretty big but not full grown yet.

well sadly he wasn't "vicious" enough for me either

so i ordered a Mesobuthus Martensii (Chinese Golden scorpion i think)
he was pretty small , he seemed perfect, stronger then a desert hairy, but not deadly.
problem was he was small, probably as long as a Gatorade cap a lil smaller
he was really shy, always ran away. he ate ONCE during the 2 and half months
it was a very small meal too, he died Sad

so last week a ordered an Androctonus Australis
it said baby, so i thought it would be the size of my mesobuthus martensii
i was wrong. Its TINY!! i mean thumb nail size from head to tail tip O.O

idk how to feed him nor what! so i would like to know how i should feed him becuase i tried a few pincher bugs and rollie pollies (small ones)

he doesn't eat. he grabbed the pincher bugs a few times but never stung or tried to eat he would just let it go.

so if anyone of you experts could help a newbie out like me it would be greatly appreciated!

also another question!! I've had my desert hairy for the longest now and he has not grown one bit nor molted! Sad am i doing something wrong? he eats a lot, and seems healthy but am i forgetting something? i do give him a lil light from a heat lamp but he just hides when i do so Crying or Very sad

Thanks in advance!

Ok well you shouldnt be feeding rollie pollies but you can use them in tanks where it is really humid. Feed your scorpions once a week a prey item a little smaller than them. You can just feed your new one small crickets you can get at the pet store. . As far as molting they will molt when they are ready to nothin you can do Very Happy Also make sure the heat lamp is a red bulb

Yes it needs to be infared .

Most younger scorpions will molt once every few months. If you have an adult it wont molt anymore.

You can pre-kill the crickets and leave it for 24 hours.
