New here, need an ID from you experts!

Hi.
A friend who owns an fish store, had a small box full of small (baby?) scorpions, that he was giving away.
I grabbed a couple of him, and asked about the locale etc of the scorpions.

He didn't seem to know the answer, but mumbled something about possible India or China. (this is in no way a definite answer).

Anyway here they are.
They are both quite a dark brown color with a white stinger.
Both are about 1cm not including tail maybe 2cm including tail stretched out.









Hope someone can get me a correct ID, so as I can provide correct housing!

Before an accurate ID can be clearly identified, the substrate used needs to be changed to "soil based" e.g coco peat as they can retain moisture much better and may provide them a means of digging out their own burrow when the substrate is well packed down.

Clearly, they belong to forest scorpions and are better off in a more humid environment. Quick link to a simple forest scorpions' caresheet can be found at my signature.

As for ID, more peeps will chip in soon. I'm leaning towards Heterometrus sp.. getting suspicious at the red tips on the chela

I have moved the Scorpions to a new substrate.
I have used 3" of 50% reptile bark (fine chipped) and 50% reptile Palm tree fibre soil.

And yup, within minutes both Scorpions have dug deep into the soil!

I have done a photo search of the Asian Forest Scorpion, and I can see the resemblance.
Though the pedipalps seem smaller on these guys compared to the AFS pics I have searched.

I really do appreciate your help, I keep many Reptiles and other pets, but am very new to Scorpions.

90% it's a Heterometrus. India would hint towards swammerdami, so would the red tips of the chelae.
I won't commit on further ID though, all Heterometruses look too much alike at this size.

I did a search of the H. Swammerdami, and yes It certainly looks like the photos of juveniles I found.
What a gorgeous looking adult too!
