Well all, my hopes for babies from my first scorpion were dashed yesterday upon finding Scorpinox dead in her hide. In other sad news, it looks like Bumblebee will follow her soon. We aren't sure what happened, but maybe something in the environment got to them. We live in an apartment and can only guess that perhaps spraying was done and ended up in our apartment, or something else contaminated their environment as it came on quite suddenly. One day they were both running around normal, and within a couple days, tails flat, not moving much, etc. I discovered no mites and the humidity and temps were good. We won't be giving up, and intend to get another pair at some point as they are quite enjoyable to watch and learn from. She was laid to rest under the shade of a tree on 1/2/12. I will miss her

Thank you Bex. Although I am quite disheartened I won't be giving up. This is something I found I enjoy very much. Wow, what do you think happened to the celebensis? Are they hard to care for? So sorry , sorry to hear about the other babies too.

| I think it was my own fault, i thought they had been misted and fed but they hadn't and as they were so small it didn't take much for them to dehydrate, i was feeding them micro crickets they was that small bless them, just been so busy lately kinda let things slip _________________ | | | 48+ Scorpions, 6 Tarantulas, 2 snakes & 2 Mantids - Click Here: | | | Snakes x 2

Thats so sad, just believe that you gave them kindness and love. I know its probably not possible for a scorp to feel anything but hunger and pain, but we love our pets very much. Otherwise we wouldnt run to the pet store to get crickets or roaches, and make sure that their enclosures are as close to the wild as can be without a full release back into the unknown. Atleast with us they dont need to fear being ate by a bird or over size desert mouse. Ive had the first scorpion I got for almost a year now. They live in a tank, we feed them, something happens and we mourn. In 10 years someones gonna ask you about your first Scorpion and your face will brighten and you will and tell them all about her. With a smile on your face and peace in your heart. Kinda cheesy I know but they become part of us. They are dependent on us and we thrive on that. They are our pets.

Sorry to hear bout your loss. I agree with Bex on old age, my male emp died one month after I bought him. Apparently most adults that are being sold, are already reaching the end of their life. Hence, why I currently don't have emps at all. _________________ Dear community members, please follow the Rules New Forumers, please Introduce Yourself before posting. We love to know you!

I know how you felt Anna, there's something about that first scorp that sparks the addiction. I was truly sad when I lost one of my first, Haddy, no other arizonensis will replace her. I wouldn't blame yourself though, loses are inevitable, especially with adults of an unknown age. Same to you Bex, looking after that many celebensis babies is not easily done, they're freaking TINY! I had a very sad lose recently. I'm sure most of you remember the female Het. madraspatensis that gave me a brood a little while ago. Well I mated her again to a male I had, all went well, video on youtube, seemed to be successful. Then before I could even post the video up she dropped dead! I was soo gutted.

Sorry to hear that Jamie At least you got to keep some part of her before she died As of this morning, I'm pretty sure that Bumblebee has passed. He hasn't moved from the spot under the heat lamp for 2 days and today I see no movement at all even with a light blow across him. I will lay him to rest next to Scorpinox when I get home today.
