You meant the "double cage security" ?
Desert specimen can get very small at times.. which makes it harder to locate in the event of m.i.a
Hence, better do whatever we can to make sure they wont get lost that easily.. there goes without saying for the highly venomous ones as well Smile

It depends on what you are going for. If you want day cycles and want heat thrown into the mix via a heat lamp, regular daytime incandescent heat lamps work great. Just make sure you don't get one too high in power. You don't want temps getting too hot in the enclosure. For a more night time effect, but still allowing visibility, you can use an infrared bulb. Same rule on that one. There are also ceramic heaters that emit heat, but no light whatsoever, thus not stressing your scorps at all, as even red lighting can be stressful to them. Personally, I use heat tape instead of a bulb. It takes up less space since you don't have anything sitting on top of the enclosure and makes it to where my scorps aren't stressed. They get ambient light from the sun coming in through the windows and the overhead lights in my room. It's all about what you prefer. Just stay away from UV lighting for all scorpion species. That's sure to stress them out real good.

I have cactus in mine. Hasn't caused any problems. The crickets climb up on top of it sometimes, but other than that...

I was talking to one of the guys on here a while back when I was wanting to do the LEDs on my enclosures and he sent me this article about arachnid vision. Said they can see red, but it's not as stressful as violet. I have a red flashlight I use from time to time and they can definitely tell when I use it. I'm not saying that it's gonna stress them out to the point of them dying or anything like that. People use red lighting all the time and it's perfectly fine. I just prefer having no light at all other than ambient. And my scorps seem to feel the same.
