Things like this used to happen a lot when I did tropical fish orders. Suppliers would make up subspecies names for fish that maybe weren't selling quickly. Try to make out its a 'rare' subspecies and shops/customers will jump at the chance of getting something new.
The fish would then turn up and you would be very disappointed as they looked exactly the same as the normal ones.

This wasn't always the case. Sometimes suppliers made up ssp names for different colour variants etc. Why they had to do it this way rather than just say 'high red' or 'spotted' for instance, I don't know. Most of the time though, it was done to shift slow moving stock.

The only way to know whether it is worth getting is by going and having a look. It's not a real ssp but he may be using the name to describe an interesting colour variant.

So are they actually a different 'morph' or local variant then? People on the forums you linked seemed to think it was a seller with an active imagination lol??

I'm not sure whether to call it a different morph or local variant as i have not gone into detailed study of these specie. However, i've seen it personally in my friend's collection in Mysia. By comparing similar instar with regular Leiurus quinquestriatus, It is larger and has color difference.

As for the link i've posted, yes there are difference in opinions. I'm curious about any further post to that thread as well.

In this case, i've personally seen both specimens at my friend's place hence my comments as above.
