Elo,

thought I would put up a few pics of my recent arrivals for you guys to peruse :-)

First up, my new Misses Nebo hierichonticus. Finally after years of waiting I finally have one in my life haha.

Fresh arrivals today. All the way from Lake Garda, Italy. Euscorpius italicus. I got 2 males and 2 females kindly sent to me by Poldi.
They seem different to my existing E. italicus. Almost like a cross of E. italicus and E. flavicaudis.

Also from Lake Garda. Tiny little Euscorpius germanus. Very cute, very fast little scorpions. Also got 4 of these but this time 1 male to 3 females. Lucky boy haha.

And finally my last remaining 2i Iurus asiaticus and mummy. The dead young came off eventually and the mites disappeared with them. Theres still abit of white residue on her back but I'm sure that will come off over time.

I will get some pics of my other arrivals from Martin once they (hopefully) start showing signs of improvement.

Hope you enjoy :-)

Thanks guys :-)

GS, both the Nebo and the Euscorpius' were off Poldi and were sent from Germany. The Nebo got here in 4 days and the Euscorpius took 7 days. It was nice and warm when the Nebo was sent and she arrived in great health. The Euscorpius arrived on Monday. The weather has turned much cooler here now but because these are temperate species they didn't seem to mind the cold and arrived very healthy and lively. One of the italicus even managed to escape whilst I was talking pictures and decided to hide under my sofa haha.

After looking more at the italicus the more I am thinking they could possibly be flavicaudis. There are definately some differences from my flavicaudis. They have slightly darker legs, the telson is much darker and the italicus males telson is a different shape to my male E. flavs. However, their overall colouration is much more similar to E. flavicaudis and they are a little bit smaller than what E. italicus 'should be', although colour and size is by no means a reliable way to identify a species correctly. What do you guys reckon??

Anyways, enough waffling lol. What ever they are, I am rather happy with them. I absolutely love how red the tips of their pedipalps are and I have got both males and females so will hopefully get some breeding going on the spring :-)

Just had a few more scorpions arrive today.

First up Euscorpius tergestinus. Lots of attitude which is quite unlike Euscorpius. She readily used her sting when I was moving her and even posed quite nicely for the camera lol.

Next up a female E. italicus. This one was collected in Croatia. Much darker than the others I have (if they are even E. italicus).

And finally E. sicanus. I have 7 of these and they are all female so no breeding unfortunately. Fingers crossed for some of them being gravid lol.

This one has got a damaged leg. Looks like it may have been scrapping with the others. Hopefully it is nothing to worry about.

Oh and nearly forgot, a 2i E. concinnus. I swapped 2 of my 2i E. flavicaudis for a couple of these.

Yer I have been on the look out for new Euscorpius species for ages and suddenly loads have appeared for sale at once. I'm very happy but my bank balance probably disagrees haha.

Nice Euscorpius collection mate. The only bugger with these is the difficulty in ID'ing them.

Haha yep. I'm having trouble getting a proper ID on my first lot of 'E. italicus'. Apparently I have got to count the trichobothria on the pedipalps. How the hell I'm going to do that I don't know lol.

Under a microscope... Just enjoy them whatever they are, breed them if you can. And when (hopefully not soon though) one of them dies, put it under a 'scope to get a full correct ID.

As for ID'ing an alive specimen of Euscorpius, I can't give you advice, unfortunately.

Could work actually.
Btw. approximately how big magnification do you get with that lens?
