| anybody ever have this happen? I was cleaning out my emp's tank, so I put everyone in plastic containers, like those you get from the pet store when you buy an emp or crickets. I sat them on a table and took the tank outside. When I came back in to put them back in the tank my big female was nowhere to be found and the lid was still on. Houdini??? If there had been anyone home other than me and my wife I'd say someone was playing a trick on me. I've turned the house upside down and I can't find her. Wow this really stinks!!! | |

| That sucks. Keep an eye out for her. She will probably be hiding somewhere warm and snug. Also be careful that your cats and dogs don't get stung by her. Good luck finding your emp. | |

| Damn Mr T, thats a strange story. Particularly because they're not that fast. Its pretty warm out there so it will be looking for colder sides at your place I reckon.
Being very dry, id look the moist spots as your bathroom or kitchenparts.
Be happy its a harmless emp that got out.
Good luck tracking it down. If it doesnt have moistureness, it will die pretty quick however......

| emps are like Jason Voorhees.they go at a laid back pace but get where their going in no time .ive seen em move really fast as well, blink of an eye fast.back to the burrow or doing 180s,watchout. it is crazy that the plastic critter keeper lid was closed snugly still and it just vanished.carazy, that blacklight torch will be your bestfriend, goodluck. | |

| Say if your emp is lost in your kitchen.. is there any chance she can slip out of the house? If the answer is no.. most likely she's around the vicinity. Have you tried this.. During the night.. leave some warm and nicely dampen cloth in the middle/ several potential location of the floor (in that potentenial area which mostly likely she's dwelling in) with lights off.. leave that area/room alone without any light / movement or disturbance of any kind...
After a min of 1-3 hours of waiting... use a black-light torch (min 5-10 meters of decent projection) and start searching for your baby in the dampen areas and all around that area.. in darkness.. Hopeful it can yield some results mate..

| Thanks GS, the door is a very long way from where she escaped. But we do have a new frig and it's not far from the room she was in. I think she could be under there, but I'm afraid to move it for fear of crushing her. It's in a pretty tight spot. I thought about putting out a heating pad, but I didn't think of putting a damp towel on it. Great idea! | |

| My emp got out of his 10 gal about a month ago. Guess where I found him? Up between my mattress and the wall. He was all snuggled up. That would have been an interesting night if I had not realized he was AWOL. Good luck on finding her. It sucks not knowing where they are. If it's not for worrying about her getting hurt or dying it's the fear of her pinching the tar outta your toe or god forbid something more valuable. | |
