Hadogenes paucidens. This one was my official first scorpion and in nearly 2 years it's eaten about 5 small crix and molted once. Damn they're boring LOL

Nice pics. What instar is your Hadogenes at? Looks like you will have that scorp for a long time.

The sad thing is, adults sometimes go two years without food. But as a baby?

Seriously, I reckon I've put maximum 5-8 small crix in in the time I've had it. I hadn't even opened the enclosure for about 2 months and went to feed it last night and it still wouldn't take the cricket lol It molted about a year ago and still looks the same, not even coming up to pre-molt. Yes this could be my first scorpion and my last one alive lol it must be 3i or maybe 4i not entirely sure but reckon it was just 2i when I got it.

Could probably speed it up a bit if I hot boxed it and left it with crix around it all the time but seems to be doing fine.

that sounds about right, i think i forced 10 a year into my 4i H.paucidens, but they just dont eat.

Haha, yep they're not exactly the most exciting of scorps, pretty impressive as adults though, hope it's male, with their super long metasomas. Is your's still going mate? I know they can be hard to raise because of the time between molts and what have you.

Very nice scorps! And AH HA! So THAT'S why I haven't seen my H. paucidens eat since I've gotten her. Well atleast now I can relax a little. haha.

Cheers, and yeah I wouldn't worry at all about one of these not eating. I read that it can take them up to 7 years to reach adult and can live 20-25 years so I've got a long wait until mines like yours lol gives you an idea of how old yours could be!

Thanks Bex, I know your not as keen on scorpions of the squashed variety any time you want any tips you know where I am, still got alot of learning to do myself. It's a steep learning curve when your trying to figure it all out yourself.

Their life span is immense isn't it, I think haddy's have a similar lifespan too but grow a bit quicker. I know you'll end up catching one of those Anna, I know I couldn't resist haha

I read somewhere that they have a metabolism slower than carrots!
