A friend of mine gave me a small M.gibbosus recently.I'de like to know if this species needs any water dish or just leave without water at all?

make a mix of soil and sand for it, then place a bottle cap with water for it.. Very Happy my Mesobuthus martensii was very found of water..

i am asking because i had a small bottle cup af water and it was avoiding it always..
i have also read that this is a semi-desert,arid species and it gets most of the water ftom its prey..
which sand should i use?
i am currently using very fine gravel,like aquarium subtrate

well it doesnt really matter what sand you use as long as it doesnt contain anything that might be harmfull for the scorp, but the sand your using sounds fine, but i whould still mix it with soil..

Congrats on your new scorp.
Make sure the soil is dry when you mix it , at least not wet. If you mist the enclosure from time to time, I think it will drink the droplets off the walls if it`s thirsty.

Mesobuthus species love water especially when in groups. Often found swimming as long as you give them a way out a little water bowl will be cool.
