Update (Not A Good One)

Well, I thought the swammerdami was doing fairly well. Until 15 minutes ago. I went to feed him and he did not move. (Normally he starts moving when I open the lid) So I put the cricket to his mouth---he did not respond. I gently touched him--- all he did was twitch his legs. I put him in a ICU. He is still alive, but he is very stiff. So far he shifted his position very slightly, but other than that he acts like he is dead. I hope he survives.

Note: As many of you know, the H. swammerdami had a bad molt. His left pedipalp is deformed, and 2 back legs on his right side still have old exoskeleton stuck to them. Could there have been some internal damage?--I don't know.

I hope everything works out for the best H. Swammwerdami is one of my favorite sp., Although it dosen't sound good, I don't think it is internal damage, but could be from the bad molt. good luck

Thanks. I don't think it will survive though. If it dies, I might get one of your Heterometrus madraspatensis.

lol.. alright, but I'm hoping it pulls through for you. I hope to have a brood of H. swammerdami in the future but it's going to be around 15 months before that happens if you can wait.

He is starting to recover. He is starting to move and he is also not "stiff".

I can't believe that it's doing so well. I thought it was dead, until it twitched it's legs. Well, at least it's doing better. Lets hope it stays that way. Smile

I'd suggest keeping it in the hot box through the next molt.

Yeah, I'm keeping it in the hot box until next molt. I think he got dehydrated in the hot box, so I am keeping him very moist and I put more insulation between the heat pad and the scorpion. I also put more holes in the top. (To lower the temp a little) I'm monitering the temps and humidity very carefully.

It sounds promising, I would keep a close eye on him when he starts to molt, you may have to help it out.

THIS IS B.S.

The scorpion is acting like he's dead again! Mad

I checked on him this morning before school (the first day) and he was fine.

I check on him at 8:00 PM and he is almost dead! Mad

I have him in an ICU. I will not be putting him back in the hot box.
So yeah, I come home from the first day of school (which was crappy) and I have a scorpion that is almost dead! Bang Head
