claw wont open :(

anyone know why my scorpion might not be able to open its left claw all she does is punch the crickets with it but the other claw seems to work just fine

no one has any idea why this might be?

Honestly it's pretty hard to say. Could be it sustained some sort of injury or is infected. does it look normal? No leaking fluids or anything? Did it molt recently?

and it just stopped using it like 4 days ago and i dont think anything wouldve injured it it looks normal isnt leaking any fluids and and iv only had it alittle under a month and it hasnt molted since iv gotten it

No idea then man. I'd say you are alright as long as she's eating.

think she will ever be able to use it again or do i just got myself a handicap scorpion

Hard to say. just keep an eye on it. If it's not bothering her or impeding her you should be alright.

its alittle bit harder for her to catch her food so iv been breaking the crickets legs and she can still move it around and hit stuff with it she just doesnt open it at all

i kinda want to get anouther scorpion but am worried a new one might hurt her since her claw doesnt open

I m pretty sure she still can if there is no visible damage. Maybe she just doesnt need to open it?

but it doesnt open at all and she just hits things with it like shes trying to grab them with it but instead just ends up punching it like i put a cricket in there and she kept punching it with that claw instead of grabing it

i think she will be fine i had a scorpion who lost a claw in a molt and he was fine also i kept him with other scorpions and they didnt bully him or anything.

My male h. mysorensis's claws wont open either. He just hit the prey with his claws :S

I was planning to mate him with my females but he can't exactly do the dancythingy with them when he's not able to grab them! :O

He is now able to open both claws again
My theory is that he didnt have enough energy to use the muscles in his claws.

After several weeks with high humidity and 23-27 degrees and an occasional cricket he seemed a little better. I thought to myself it could maybe be some kind of nourishment problem so I crushed a big fat cockroach and gave it to him.
He ate like his life was depending on it and the day after he was fully able to open his claws! Now he's back to pinching and crushing his prey.

I find this very interesting and actually hope I get a scorp who's unable to open his claws, so that I can test this theory.

mines claw still dont open haha i think its just jammed from hitting it on the glass i noticed since its claw quit opening it quit hitting the glass at night

Get a scorpion thats smaller than your male. It will leave your male alone because of the size difference, and the male will leave because of the claw. By the time your males claw is good again, they'll be best buds!

i allready have a second smaller scorpion lol they get along perfectly fine and even tryed mating only time iv seen any signs of even slight agressiveness was when i first put the little one in and the big one grabbed it by one claw and drug it into the bigger hide and thats when they did the mating thing so that mightve just been apart of it
