PostSubject: ID this spider?   8/8/2011, 8:24 am

So I was sitting here chatting on the forum with Saleen when a spider darted from the back of a painting in front of my computer and I thought it was huge so I caught it. Hoping Pluto, Peloquin or anyone really could tell me what it is. I live in South Florida if it helps narrow it down. Its leg span is about 4inches.

My screen isnt the best but it LOOKS like a huntsman spider, probably Heterapoda venatoria.

Aa I say though, my screen isnt brilliant so be carefull, dont you get Brown recluse there as well?

I vote mature male Heterapoda venatoria. Id like to have him to mate with my female after she drops the sac she is currently holding. you can see his odd shaped palps in pic 3

I did some research and I would agree with your judgments. Glad to hear he is not much of a threat. What do you think I should do with the fella? He's still in the Kritter Keeper I put him.

Oh so that's the bastard you were talking about B.
Def a nice find you should keep him and name him Bizarre on account of him having only 7 legs.
