I've got two of theses little fellas. They're funnest snakes I've had in a while.

Hey, nice gopher (?) snake. I see them often going herping. By the way, I'm sure you might be already aware and just some friendly advice as I wish no harm to go to your snake, but feeding live prey like that can be very dangerous. There have been several accounts of people who unfortunately have gotten their snakes get seriously injured and even die due to the prey lashing back.

Yea, I've heard stories as well. But the way I have it figured, it's a wild caught snake and has been eating live prey it's entire life. Why try to change it's habits just so I, as the owner, feel more secure. Besides, I sit and watch every feeding to be sure all goes well and no harm comes to the snake. The only thing's I don't watch all the way through are my rattlers when I have them because their prey is pre killed no matter how it is served to them. lol. But I appreciate the concern sir, thank you. BTW, She's a bullsnake, gopher snakes are a sub-species, so they are very closely related.

They're pretty sweet aren't they? She is the calmest snake I have ever seen as well. She hasn't even so much as hissed at me since I caught her. She is perfectly content to sit on my shoulders for hours at a time.
