Howdy all,
Went hunting yesterday and found a big rattler and today I found one that was MAYBE six inches long.

This is Gauss Hog, the big one.

This is Sparta, the little one. Little snake, HUGE attitude.

Yeah...the medical costs after getting bit scare me more than the snake itself lol.

I would assume so. Neither one would kill me but they would both make me pretty sick for a spell. The little one has the attitude to put a horse down. Razz

they've got a terrible reputation don't they?
much the same as scoprions really, they make out that they are all cold blooded, evil killers, but really most of them chose flight over fight!!
very nice snakes, it's such a shame we need a license for them in the uk Sad

I wish you could catch one, but I couldn't see shipping it. Ntm, here we can't keep anything that can be found in the local wildlife. I think if I really tried I could find me one somewhere. We have a lot of diamond backs around here. I've actually seen one that a guy killed that was 7 inches in girth and almost 8 feet long. They get massive around here, and they can wield up to 2 inch fangs. It's almost scary... almost..

An adult killed someone I think around 2-3 years ago, I can't remember fully at this time. Beautiful animals though! In regards to a bite, some people have more of an issue with the "Crofab" anti-venom (not sure if I spelled this anti-venom correctly).

Also a friend of mine was tagged by a blacktail a couple years ago, 1 fang hit his index finger, he required 10 vials of Crofab (at the time he didn't know the cost but he got the bill, EACH vial was billed at $10,000, thus he had $100,000 in anti-venom alone, not including the ER/doc time). Good luck with them, they are pretty!
