That depends on a number of things. Most importantly are you providing proper care.

What kind of scorp is it? What is the setup like? Temperature and humidity levels good? Somewhere to hide?

It won't need heating as long as your room temperature is around eighty degrees. Better would be around 85 degrees. You in the US?

Oh, then you use C instead of F there right? Probably about 30 C would be good for the daytime.

Also, if it's in it's hide most of the time it's absolutely normal behavior. I have several scorpions that I never even see. They are very reclusive animals by nature.

Most pet shops don't keep their tropical scorpions, or any scorpions for that matter, with proper heating/humidity.

If you don't keep it within proper temperature range it will stop eating and eventually die.

In the short term you can use a regular lamp to help heat it, just turn it off at night. They hate light.

Do you have a thermometer you can use to check the temperature with? It can be a bit tricky to find the proper distance for the lamp. Too far and it won't help heat, and too close you'll cook your pet!

husbandry!!!!!!!
commercial petshops dont keep anything right and if they do its according to their cheap stick on measurements which are usually way off.

Multiple hides isn't a bad idea, but you'll find that it'll mostly stick to one. They are a bit territorial and will spend time getting everything just right. As for heating, a lamp is your best option. Heat pads usually are designed to heat the object it's stuck to, and not the air. Heat for scorpions should come from above like the sun does. They burrow to get away from the heat if it's to much for them. Try to find an infrared heat bulb and lamp.

oh oh and i have to add you might need a dimmer depending on the lamp, bulb, and size of enclosure as from my experience they can exceed 110 in a 20 gallon and 10 gallon tank.i live in az im sure that added to the heat as my room is consistantly 79-81 degrees.
i couldnt find any infrared bulbs with a lower rating than 50 watts.

constant blacklight or any long exposure to uv is bad for any living species.

the OGs will help you with the drinking im not familiar with anything besides emperors.

Oh sorry about the water thing. They can drink from a shallow bowl just fine. They will even bathe sometimes, just be sure they can get back out, so not too deep.

All scorpions glow in black light. It's neat for sure.

People want them, so shops sell them. It is the way of things I'm afraid.

Glad we could help you out. Congrats on the new scorp, and welcome to the forum. Don't be a stranger!
