I'm pretty sure one of my Lychas Mucronatus ate a mealie on Tuesday and it molted earlier today. =/ (I didnt see it eat but the mealie disappeared. not burrowed in the substrate, jz a small delicup, i stirred the substrate to check)

Weird, I thought soon-to-be molting scorpions would fast? They rejected crickets last week so I figured they might be approaching a molt but on Tuesday one of them ate a mealie and thus I dropped the 'molt approaching idea' BUT LO AND BEHOLD, it molted today.

Scorpions truly leave me bamboozled.

I think you are thinking of partuation. I had my C. sculpt eat just three day ago and molted to maturity today. I have a S. vachoni that looks like it's been in DESPERATE need for a molt since January and hasn't ate untill yesturday.

Mind me asking but what's partuation? can't seem to find it in the dictionaries.

so u mean that its perfectly normal for scorpions who are approaching a molt to NOT fast?

Partuition is the technical term for popping (i.e., giving birth).

So I guess some scorpions do eat shortly before molts -- all scorpions I've had in premolt have refused prey.

Eddy probably thought that because it's also a widespread thing of scorps fasting before giving birth.

Maybe eating right before the molt helps? They get a little bigger to put a bit more pressure on their exoskeleton... then digest for a few days and get a big smaller before squeezing out? Just an idea.
