I caught this girl in my back yard. Thought she was cool so I set up a tank for her. She seems to be settling in nicely!
Bufo woodhousii, or commonly Woodhouse Toad.
Please don't mind the cardboard. It keeps the rabbits out from under the entertainment center, little devils

Only have two rabbits but believe me, that's enough! This toad is awesome. She looks very regal to me. I must have mistakenly caught toad royalty. So far she hasn't made any noises, and I hope to GOD she doesn't. It's terrible!
Listen to this terrible racket.

I think she has some royalty around here too. Look at your queen GBers, look at the toad.. See what I'm suggesting?

Awesome! Thanks for sharing that Will3. Yours sounds much prettier than mine. I love when they walk. They look so purposeful.

They are illegal to keep tho, would be to hard anyway as they require temps very low, like under 10c at night.

I would imagine that any native species from Sweden would be able to weather a very harsh climate at times. I guess if you wanted to risk the illegality of it you could always set up a tank in the yard under some shade or something.

Raising the tadpoles and later release them is however legal and we do that sometimes

There are some conservation projects like that here in the states with some species of toads and frogs. Raise them from eggs and reintroduce them as juveniles or sub adults.
