Hi,
well some how I have been roped in to going on holiday with my GF and..... HER PARENTS!!! We are going to Cala Millor on the East coast of Mallorca at the end of July. It's a touristy, British resort so it is not exactly my usual choice for a holiday destination lol. I prefer to go somewhere with as small a human population as possible. That's probably why I like deserts so much haha lol.
Anyway, the bargain was I would be allowed a few days to do what I would like such as spending hours walking around the countryside staring at the floor looking for interesting reptiles, bugs, arachnids......etc lol. Do any of you guys know anything on the scorpion fauna of Mallorca? From memory I think there is only one species of scorpion in Mallorca, Euscorpius balaericus but I may and am hopefully wrong on this lol. Also I have no experience of looking for scorpions in the wild so what are the best times of night to go, what are the best weather conditions to go out looking in and where are the best places to look i.e. near or away from human habitation etc.?
Cheers
P.S. Are there any other interesting animals to keep my eye out for? I know there is a few lizard and snake species but am unsure on what other vertebrate or invertebrate life might be lurking about.
