They are minging things. They like a deep substrate and will dig a chamber out and live in it.
They need a decent humidity and like it warm but not too hot.
Mine used to grab crix and eat them in the chamber but the dirty buggers always ate a bit of cricket/ roach and just dump the rest. The enclosure stunk and was a breeding ground for bacteria, fungus and scuttle flies. Interesting animals but too high maintainence for someone of my lazy nature.

Whip scorpions are easy... roughly 1 cubic ft aquarium (depending on the size) with ample substrate to dig burrows...

Here are some of my whip scorpion enclosures.
vinegaroons BLUropygida

vinegaroons IMG_0725

vinegaroons Uburrowing

vinegaroons Uburrows

vinegaroons Uburrows1

vinegaroons TO36

vinegaroons T032

They're pretty fun to watch when they hunt.... they wave around their 1st pair of antenal legs like little metal detectors... but give them only appropriate sized meals i.e. something the size they can decently squash in between those 'boxing gloves' to minimize the waste you have to clean up. They are not typically communal unless they are the same species and they are a breeding pair; either of which are pretty hard to determine for whip scorpions (order Thelyphonida) in general. The order has been revised to Thelyphonida from the old name Uropygida.

Hope that was helpful
Cheers and best regards

Same thing.
Common names are crap. People can easily get things mixed up. Better off sticking with scientific names.

Because these are commonly known as whip scorpions:

vinegaroons TanzanianGiantTaillessWhipScorpionWHSp_AP7I

And these vinegaroons:

vinegaroons Vinegaroon_samantha

I think spinnin_tom is referring to vinegaroons, then.

Glad it helped! Yeah, I wasn't able to provide you with any info because I was confused as to which one you meant Smile I'm still deciding on which one is uglier haha Strangely enough, I still want one of each Very Happy

They are for sale at most of the shows. I think I've seen them every year at the BTS show.

Two sites I found selling some:

Sells vinegaroon:
http://www.virginiacheeseman.co.uk/scorpions-c-32.html?osCsid=d208ad5e0aa010b92b3b06b280d1d8ec

Sells whip scorpion:
http://www.bugzuk.com/scorpions.php?page=3

I don't know how reputable they are though.

Just to clear up the terms for everyone...

Order Amblypygida: Whip Spiders AKA Tailless-Whip Scorpions sometimes called Cave Crabs or Giant Crab Spiders.

Order Thelyphonida: Whip Scorpions AKA Vinegaroons i.e the ones with the aerial sticking out at the end and the 'boxing gloves.'

Cheers & best regards
